The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is organizing the SNFCC Green Weekend 2024 on September 21st and 22nd, inviting the public to a two-day event filled with activities focused on environmental awareness and sustainable living. With the theme "Ideas for a Green City," this year's Green Weekend will feature discussions, talks, educational activities, and entertainment events suitable for all ages.
The keynote speech by Italian urban planner and architect Maurizio Carta on Sunday, September 22nd, titled "Ideas for a Green City," will focus on the challenges modern cities face and strategies for sustainable urban development. The program also includes panel discussions on urban life challenges, the urban landscape and mental health, and the green aspects of the city, with experts from Greece and abroad sharing their views and experiences.
In addition to the discussions, the festival features photography exhibitions such as "Akalipti" by Olga Deikou and "RIDE ATHENS" by Spyros Bakalis, as well as the interactive lighting installation Lightbattle X by Venividimultiplex. The outdoor flower market in the Mediterranean Garden and the Open Agora, with the participation of volunteer organizations, offer a unique experience for visitors.
The program also includes activities for children, sunset meditation sessions, cycling tours, and bicycle repair workshops. The evening will conclude with a screening of the film "The Salt of the Earth" and a unique concert by the Ergon Ensemble.
