Alpha Bank Art Collection, one of the most important corporate collections in Greece, consisting of 5,500 works by Greek artists, covering modern Greek artistic creation from 1880 to the present, has been made accessible to the public through its new website www.alphapolitismos.gr. This collection consists of paintings, engravings, sculptures, constructions, and illustrations of publications, representing all the major artistic periods of the country.
In addition to preserving and exhibiting these works, the Collection has developed significant cultural and educational activities. It participates in exhibitions in collaboration with important cultural institutions and museums, lends artworks for exhibitions, and publishes related works and artists. Particularly notable is its participation in exhibitions such as the one at the Benaki Museum in 2005, where some of the most representative works of the collection were showcased.
The Collection is a member of the International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art (IACCCA) and has been included among the 80 most important corporate collections worldwide in the 2015 publication Global Corporate Collections. Despite not having a permanent exhibition space, its works are housed in Alpha Bank's central building, while some are permanently displayed in the Group's branches and companies in Greece and abroad.
The Alpha Bank Art Collection is a valuable part of Greece's cultural heritage, offering a bridge between the public and contemporary Greek art.
