The contemporary art exhibition "The Sea that Unites Us" inaugurated on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 8:30 PM, at the Venetian Church of Saint Rocco in the Old Town of Chania. The Chania Museum of Contemporary Art Elaiourgeio, in collaboration with the Follow Your Art Gallery and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania, presents the exhibition, featuring artists from Kythera and Crete. This exhibition explores the reciprocal relationships between the two islands through the sea, which simultaneously separates and unites them. The collaboration of the artists highlights the maritime route as a bridge of communication, trade, and solidarity, while also focusing on issues such as climate change and the sustainability of maritime development.
The exhibition, which is part of the artistic program CHANIaRT 2024, will run until August 30, 2024, and will be open daily from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with free admission for the public. After Chania, the exhibition will move to Kythera, aiming to deepen the artistic and cultural relations between the two islands.
Notable artists participate in the exhibition, and the curators, Georgia Tseri and Ioannis N. Archontakis, ensure a unique artistic experience that honors cultural heritage and contemporary artistic trends. The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual brochure that includes the artists' works and related analyses.
