Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), in collaboration with the National Gallery - Alexandros Soutsos Museum, presents the outdoor exhibition "Alex Mylona | Fulfillment," which will run until September 30, 2024. Curated by art historian Syrago Tsiara, this exhibition aspires to fulfill the vision of sculptor Alex Mylona (1920-2016) with contemporary terms, offering a new exhibition experience to visitors.
The exhibition focuses on the relationship between female artistic creation and historical and institutional reality, highlighting Alex Mylona's sculptural and architectural proposals from the 1970s. The artist's works, made from materials such as zinc and stainless steel, are presented as a modular project that engages with public space and seeks to highlight the gathering and social function of public sculpture.
Among the exhibits are six archival photographs by visual artist Eleni Mylona, documenting the collaboration between mother and daughter in 1976, as well as the sculpture "Development of the Circle," first created in large dimensions in 1986 and now exhibited at the SNFCC Esplanade. The exhibition is complemented by the installation of the sculpture "Beryozka," a 1957 work belonging to the National Gallery's collection.
Admission to the exhibition is free, offering everyone the opportunity to explore the creative journey of a significant Greek sculptor through a unique outdoor art experience.
