An important international symposium on watercolor painting is taking place these days in Belogradchik, Bulgaria, as part of an arts forum organized by architect Plamen Miryanov and his foundation "Our Home is Bulgaria," aiming to promote Bulgaria's beautiful locations and national traditions.
Elena Tsuninska, curator of the Valtso Valtsev Art Gallery, opened the exhibition: "Today, we have the pleasure to present to you this watercolor exhibition, which is part of the International Symposium on Watercolor Painting, sponsored by architect Plamen Miryanov and his foundation 'Our Home is Bulgaria.' This foundation aims to promote the most beautiful places in Bulgaria and preserve our national traditions."
The watercolor symposium was co-organized by IWS Bulgaria, the Bulgarian branch of the International Watercolor Society, presided over by Selma Todorova and her husband Krasi Todorov, both esteemed artists in Bulgaria.
The symposium kicked off with the exhibition "Watercolors from Three Continents." For four days, artists will create amidst the rocks of Belogradchik. Their works will be exhibited in various cities in Bulgaria and worldwide, serving as ambassadors for Belogradchik and its unique nature and history. Participating artists come from Sweden, Greece, Italy, Spain, Serbia, South Korea, India, Mexico, and Bulgaria.
The international exhibition, held at hall no. 2 of the Valtso Valtsev Art Gallery, was inaugurated with the presence of political officials, including Mr. Angel Bogianov, deputy mayor of Belogradchik. Selma Todorova addressed the attendees: "In selecting these artists, I aimed for a strong spiritual orientation. I wanted the artists to create works here that connect with this project and can incorporate biblical passages into the places they paint in Bulgaria."
Mr. Bogianov also greeted the audience and promised, "We will continue to support all your initiatives. I hope they will always be numerous! I express my gratitude to those participating in the plein air on behalf of the Municipality of Belogradchik. For these four days you are here, I wish you to feel the inspiration of the rocks, and may it become your own inspiration. I hope the masterpieces you create will be seen by many people worldwide, thus becoming ambassadors for our city."
Each artist had the opportunity to present their work to the public.
