Ms. Katranidou notes in the exhibition documentation: "Diagenesis is the set of natural and chemical processes that transform the simple germ into stone. As the sediments are buried deeper, pressure and temperature rise, and sediments compress and condense through geological processes. Transgenesis accounts for the formation of 75% of the Earth's surface, and in a unique way, the processes that constitute it closely resemble those experienced by human civilization in its historical journey. The deposits of cultural values from past generations fuel large-scale social processes when challenged by new challenges. Multiculturalism and the interconnected world of recent decades fill the gaps of the past. With the pressure created by every difficulty and resistance encountered by society, the need for cohesion, continuous improvement, and empowerment of society arises; the processes promote the creation of common identities and social values. Parallelism implies interactions within human culture that can lead to the creation of a harmonious and cohesive social fabric. Art is called upon to envision a better future, amidst the dystopia of the present. Perhaps it is the voice of a hoarse prophet or the pressure we need as a society to move forward."
Exhibition Hours/Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 11:00 - 18:00, Thursday 12:00 - 19:00, Saturday 11:00 - 15:00. Closed on Monday and Sunday. Free Admission.
