The 3rd annual exhibition in the ARTgrID event series, "New Normal: Ghost in the machine," is taking place in Athens at the Luminous Eye art space, curated by visual curator Paris Kapralos and with the support of Art Curators Vera Katranidou & Teris Paschos. The exhibition opened on Friday, December 8, 2023, and will continue until Sunday, December 17, 2023, with a distinctive shine.
This exhibition features the works of 40 visual artists from Greece and around the world, exploring the impacts of developments on individuals and society in the Anthropocene era. The works, spanning various forms such as sculptures, installations, constructions, painting, photography, printmaking, video art, and digital art, engage in a multidimensional dialogue about contemporary socio-political realities.
Mr. Kapralos, in the exhibition documentation, speaks of the "ghost in the machine" as an invisible force affecting the functioning of a system or process. He references the multifaceted and uncharted consequences of the pandemic, climate change, armed conflicts, and the dystopian prospects shaping the "New Normal."
