Open call for participation in the "Golden Age," the 2nd exhibition of handmade artwork with gold thread and metallic yarn. The organizers invite textile artists from all fields of thread art, whether professional or amateur, to share their love for goldwork and art in a unique combination. The exhibition will take place at Zachariou Gallery in Kolonaki, from October 10th to October 18th, 2023, followed by an online exhibition on the organizer's platform from October 18th to November 30th. The significance of goldwork throughout the ages is truly special! Gold thread symbolizes the power and magic of the Sun, revered as a deity. The presence of gold in a person's attire represents honor for both the wearer and the creator. The clothing of kings and nobles was always adorned with goldwork, as were the formal and festive garments of the common people. Goldwork stands apart from other threads and is considered one of the earliest natural fibers. Its use always adds a tone of luxury and high aesthetics to the artwork. The GOLDEN AGE is an open theme. All techniques are accepted, such as weaving, embroidery, knitting, macramé, tatting, and free-form techniques. Selection criteria include the originality of the artwork, the use of metallic yarn, and the artistic value of the piece.
Visitors will have the opportunity to admire artworks created with gold threads, be inspired, and engage in conversations with the artists in an exhibition with a distinct aesthetic. The magic of metallic yarn, combined with the love for art and handmade creation, will transport us to the enchanting era of gold.
