Constant bombardment of image and media communication has generated an overall confusion regarding our perception on the work of art; raising uncertainties which question and challenge contemporary art. The artist’s physical presence and his work validate as a whole, an entity that is closely evaluated by the art audience. Is then, the art we stand before a masterpiece, an outstanding work that will thrive in the years to come, or will it perhaps be a casualty of visual consumerism and overconsumption? These thoughts, however, are not transient nor ephemeral, they have been argued over a long period of time by artists, theoreticians and the art community. The evolution of technology and the rise of social consumer networks resurface the question regarding the work of art: "Is it important?"
