Project U-topia / Human is th meter of all things -Summary
Orestis Diamantis "Hephaestus", painting, oil on canvas, 50x70 cm
The Greek crisis is part of the Global Economic, Environmental and Labor Crisis, which creates a particularly toxic negative environment for all peoples of the Earth. The general assessment that the dialectical relationship between Art Crisis can help society to wake up from the slumber of fatalistic acceptance of the situation investigated and presented the project of artists who recognize the need for new approaches in order to build a truly sustainable development: the need to draw on the experience of older generations and the recognition of Art as a part of societies as well as an inexhaustible source of creativity and renewal.

About ARC
ARC stands for "Art Revisited Collective"; we are a visual artists' collective based in Greece, who joined forces to promote our work, along with our vision of excellence in art, uniqueness of our angle of perception of our world today. We conglomerate our vision building our own actions, with an active contribution in and intervention in public space and concept development and implementation into third party organizations. We subscribe to the doctrine of Spyros Merkouris  "Culture draws from the past and forms the present with an eye to the future". When you are working in Greece as an artist, despite you nationality of origin, you find yourself delved into a cultural heritage of thousands of years, drawing on the past, but focuses on the present and future, i.e. the challenges posed by the transition we are experiencing today, especially after the Greek and international crisis. We want to realize our own vision, in the face of mounting challenges such as urbanization, environmental degradation, increasing inequalities, persisting poverty. In this environment there is an urgent need for new approaches, to be defined and measured in a way which accounts for the broader picture of human progress, balance between humans and nature, equity, dignity, well-being and sustainability.
