The Kapani Project: Thessaloniki Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

The Kapani Project comes back to remind us through music, visual arts, movies and performances the journey to the tastes and scents of the market. It comes back as an institution fοr the city of Thessaloniki, a great celebration for the marketplace, the point where the new meets with the old, as the cradle of the most spontaneous inspirations within the urban environment. From Askitou str. to Vlali str., from Spandoni str. to Kidoniatou str. , all the alleys of the central market place of “Kapani” on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 will host...three stages, seven live bands, ten performances, and fifteen dj sets. The “2nd Kapani Project” through alternative and free style beats and live street music has in reserve for us unique surprises that will give us away moments that we will certainly take with us when we go home. Amongst others we will be able to watch “Batala” in a performance that combines drums and dancing, capturing thus the force and stimuli of the Brazilian culture with a background full of colors, beat and motion. During this year’s event, we will also get the chance to learn the market place from one end to the other through a walking tour of a kind, the “Thessaloniki walking tour”!

The “Kapani projects” takes us to the movies!
With it’s late-night and 24hour duration features the “2nd Kapani project” awaits us for late-night screenings in small stores of the market place that remain now closed, in a collaboration with the Thessaloniki Cinema Festival. It is the second time that the Thessaloniki Cinema festival meets the Kapani market place in a collaboration with the “Kapani Project”, aiming at the “co-existence” of all arts within such an important-in the historical and architectural sense- spot of the city of Thessaloniki.

The “Kapani Project” is the start of a very beautiful journey of tastes and scents combined with the arts. It is a walkthrough the historical market place of the city that started out in October 2016. There, the people of the market place become one with the people of the visual arts and music. There, the volunteer’s team of the “Kapani Project” will welcome you in an unforgettable experience that centers on culture and socializing and will bring you in contact with the special most spots and culture of Thessaloniki. The “Kapani Project” is already an inextricable part of the city and every October it reminds us that the urban environment includes original districts that deserve to become alive!
