Rare antiques & highly collectible art in forthcoming Greek auction

Thursday February 25th, 2016 - A spectacular auction is set for Sunday  6th of March 2016 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The occasion is Myro Antiques House's bimonthly inhouse auction, which you can reach by car, or cab, however you can also ride the private coach bus which will take you from the monument of White Tower (Lefkos Pyrgos, in Greek) in the center of Thessaloniki to the venue, some 20 miles off the city limits, royalty free. Another coach bus leaves the marvelous Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki 5-star hotel for the auction's venue, at exactly the same time: both buses depart 11.30 am the very morning of Sunday 6th.  The auction sports several rare and interesting Lots, and the frequent goers will non the less observe the significant footprint of the Arts section this time, while a notable charity action has been taken up, again. Nevertheless, the event remains an “Arts, Antiques & Objects” auction and it honours its loyal friends with top quality items in every aspect it serves.

Charity action
The Child's Refuge is a nonprofit organization that, since 1919, focuses on the right to basic needs (housing, food, rest, etc.) and to the continuous improvement of children working parents education, for infants and early school children age in the region of Thessaloniki, Greece. The needs of the Foundation in this era of crisis have risen, however, there are many several donours contributing to cover the expenses. Since these are not very wealthy times we are going through, several of these donours tend to donate household items, which Myro Antiques House has taken up the task to liquidate  so as their value can be contributed to the purposes of the Refuge. A vast number of modern furniture will be sold in this auction for the greater good of the Child's Refuge foundation.

The Arts section has broaden its reach in the contemporary art including dozens of artworks from local yet established Greek artists, some of them also renowned abroad. There is also a stronger footprint of sculpture, while the presence of Gelas Kesidis sculptures “Hercules” and “Sapfo” (two of the best artworks of the well-know sculptor) cannot pass un-noticed. Myro Antiques House capitalizes the premium relations with significant, high potential and renowned sculptures of the Greek Marble Initiative sculptors -the international Initiative to revive and broaden interest in marble sculptures worldwide, the auctioneer himself, Mr. Stavros Muronidis founded in 2013. In addition, the auction includes Gabriel Andronikidis awarded microsculptures, and a highly collectible sculpture of Pavlos Kougioumtzis.

Classic Arts section gem is a perhaps Italian Renaissance (17th century) Salvatore Mundi. The painting which almost certainly belongs to a student of the Grand Italian Master Mattia Pretti, has been appraised by the Old Masters Department of Sotheby's executive Mrs. Sara Milone to a value of 7000 - 10000 euros and assessed for his originality and creation by the renowned American Art Historian John Thomas Spike, who concluded that it is not the work of the Master Mattia Pretti, but it may well be the output of one of his students, and evidently a technically interesting work of the era. Learn more HERE. And this is not the only museum piece that will fall under the hammer oin the 6th of March; a “Sussana and the Elders” very important piece, circa 1670-1710, restored 30 years ago is also on sale in the occasion (Lot 164).
