Kostis Georgiou art show in Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki

"Semper Idem", Oil on canvas
Saturday, December 12, 2015 - A notable art show is taking place in  Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki Hotel, Greece. It is the exhibition of the renowned Greek painter and sculptor Kostis Georgiou, arranged by Myrό Antiques House. If you find yourselves to be in the area do not pass wisiting. The exhibition is consisted by signifant series of paintings and feature sculpture which are laid upon the vast main lobby of the luxurious hotel. The exhibition will last till the 1st of February 2016.

There is a unique kind of  expressionism in Georgiou's paintings, dictated not only by the vigorous colour, but also by the crisp design. The presumed intent of the artist is certainly no degree of realism but the transcendence of agony, the personal dramatic context of existentialism for each of his figures, the private mysteries of life craving to be fulfilled. Kostis Georgiou's relation to sculpture is unique in a similar manner; calling him an artist, or a sculptor do not suffice. He is a creator of new beings, he invents a new ontology of forms, provoking the appointment of the “art creator” rather the simple “visual artist” title which rather impoverish and undermines what he really achieves.

His first exhibition took place in 1974. Since that time Kostis Georgiou and his works travelled and showed all over the world, were acknowledged for their significance and uniqueness worldwide. He has shown his works at some of the major museums, his monumental sculptures adorn public spaces all over the world, while his smaller sculptures, installations and paintings are found in private collections and Museum collections internationally. Strongly put, Kostis Georgiou is considered one of the most important living Greek visual artists now.
